Flood the Drummer®
Good Drummers Tour, Great Drummers TeachSM

The process of drumming engages both the linear, rational left brain (in the learning of polyrhythmic parts and the analysis of how rhythms fit together) and the creative, intuitive right brain (in the entrainment of rhythm in the body and the appreciation of the music). The two brain hemispheres often emanate different wave frequencies; drumming, like deep meditation, brings them into synchronization, which is experienced as an opening of consciousness. Synchronized brain wave activity with very high amplitude alpha waves can create feelings of euphoria with a sense of expanded mental powers and flowing creativity; this is the neurophysiologic basis of what are called higher states of consciousnesses. Drumming also has very powerful physiological effects, most obviously, sustained drumming increases the heart rate and blood flow; resulting in the "high" common to any aerobic exercise.

TRX Cymbal Co® Artist Flood the Drummer®, is a Sports EdutainmentTM Superstar known for his speed, accuracy and progressive rudimental application in the self entitled genre, Flood FreestyleTM. In addition his performance credits which include legendary performances with Herbie Hancock and Jazz Legend Sam Reed, Flood the Drummer® is the author of B.E.E.P, The Blueprint to Education Reform and Rudiments of Success; an innovative business and idea development course that use the traditional drumset as a non-traditional teaching tool.

Mission: To use the drum as a social medium that can connect our lives to global and indigenous cultures; bringing about global unity through a multi-cultural understanding and respect.

Brand Philosophy: Drumming is a sport and long periods of drumming, much like mediation, allows for a higher state of human consciousness.

Public School Offerings: Flood the Drummer®, a graduate of Philadelphia Public Schools, is a firm supporter of instrumental music education for all students. Flood the Drummer® developed the Heads UP, Hands DOWN® program to creatively teach students about globalization through world music application.

Global Partners: TRX Cymbal Co®, 3 Shades of G.R.E.E.N®, Joy of God Ministries Intl® & B.E.E.P®.

Flood Quotes: Outside of church and my home, it was in public school where the majority of my love for music was created; taking advantage of every music program offered until my High School graduation. I can't imagine a life without music; let alone the performing arts. Believe it or not, it was in public school where I got the opportunity to play with legends like Herbie Hancock, Sam Reed and John Blake. It seems like nowadays; education is the last thing on everyone minds. Sport stars get paid $25 Million a year, while a teacher on average makes about 40-60k; being quite gracious given this "recession". It won't be until America becomes a 3rd world country will it realize that its major investment needs to be education; and music education shouldn't be an option, but a mandate.

Global Community Initiatives:
  • Building interactive and technology integrated community Drum Schools.
  • Developing sustainable drum manufacturing options; including carbon fiber and acrylic.

Currently Flood the Drummer®, a former resident of Austin Texas, has relocated back to his hometown of Philadelphia and is advocating for government accountability and diverse global social programming for all students. "It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a world to raise itself. The global characteristics of our economic system is always exploited; yet our officials and leaders are not taking into account the affects that ignoring globalization will have on our future generations. It's bad enough they are closing schools and building prisons, the least they could do is teach them the word "prison" in another language. - Flood the Drummer®
